The aim of LIGHTING & EXPOSURE THEORY is to give you a good grounding in light and exposure, so that you know instantly what effect you want to achieve and have the knowledge to get there.

First I teach you about the tools for the job and show you how you can use the same equipment to give you many different effects. Then we look at controlling softness and I show you how and why the surface area of the lighting is so important.

One of the biggest questions that I get asked is about exposure. On this mini movie I do a couple of experiments that will help you learn exactly where to take the meter reading and know you will get the effect you wanted.

If you are going to become a creative photographer it's important that you know the simple rules of manipulating light. Once you master the skill of lighting you can develop your own style and push your photography up to the next level.
